Now that you are settled in your new home, we hope this site will continue to serve as a valuable resource to you. Included in the tabs at the top of the page is information on dealing with tropical living conditions such as unwanted pests and mold. You will also find emergency preparedness checklists and information on dealing with natural disasters including tsunamis, typhoons and earthquakes, the latter of which is quite common in this area.

The home maintenance tab details guidelines for residents living in military family housing. Contact numbers for appliance and home repairs are also included, as well as information on self-help projects that you may want to undertake, and the process for gaining approval for those projects. A detailed list of how to appropriately disposed of refuse and recyclable materials can be found under the Refuse/Recycling tab. As you are probably already aware, Okinawa has an aggressive energy conservation program. Tips for reducing energy consumption, and information on heating and air conditioning in central plant units is also available.

During your time on Okinawa, you may notice small and/or large-scale construction projects happening in your neighborhood, or experience some interruption in services due to systems work. While inconvenient, we encourage you to please be patient and know that we are building better homes for future military families. Click here for more information about military family housing construction.

And when the time finally comes, please refer back to this site for information on out-processing the Military Housing Office. The DoD Family Housing staff is available to assist you with any problems or concerns that may arise during your stay here on Okinawa. Please contact us at one of the locations listed below:
